Redding, California has a nice little shelter where I got two good meals, a shower and a comfy place to sleep...Albeit on the floor.
The only problem appeared to be hygienic as everyone was subjected to a head-lice check.
Thankfully I passed. A few other people didn't.
I covered my head with a plastic shower cap overnight and left with a quickness the following morning.
