Ruthie On The Road, Update

Well, Campers...If it isn't one thing,it's another!

I got through to Kingman, Arizona and then left there for Nevada yesterday morning.

When I got to Laughlin, Nevada I got caught in the terrible heat!!! I mean, it was over 100 degrees outside and I had to trudge up a high hill with the pack on my back.

And I was out of water.

When I got to the top, I felt sick and faint and my heart was pounding. A motorist [at least one] noticed me and called for help.

Paramedics and a cop showed-up and I ended up being taken to a big casino at the bottom of the hill.

I was given a room on the eighth floor and took a nice, cool shower! Then I got something to eat compliments of the City of Laughlin.

After the cop finished his shift, he drove me to Las Vegas.

I really appreciated everything but ended up being disgusted by what I found at the Salvation Army shelter.

What a filthy pig pit!

And nobody helped me at all today. In fact, I contacted the St. Vincent de Paul people who handle the soup kitchen, and they told me that I would have to leave my pack outside if I was going to eat lunch there.

So I went without lunch.

And right now I am damned hungry!

I couldn't do laundry and to top it all off, I can't find the charger to my cell phone!!!!!

I asked for a food bag and was turned down. I asked for a couple of bottles of water and nobody gave them. I asked for a bus token to take me to the onramp to interstate 15 and again I was refused.

Tonight, after the library closes at 9pm, I will walk a long way to the interstate 15 ramp and do everything that I can to get a ride out of here!

What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas but I, Ruthie In The Sky, will not!!!

Oh god, Ruthie... I'm so sorry that you're going through all this. I hope tonight finds you someplace safe and warm.
