Ruthie On The Road, Update

I hobbled past the open weigh station and finally had to sit down among the sage brush and sand. I couldn't walk any further. And a big storm was blowing in black and blustery over the mountains.

Just as the storm hit, a man who's a dead-ringer for the traditional paintings of Jesus, stopped his dust-covered Volvo station wagon and picked me up.

He was wearing a tie-dyed shirt and was driving back from the latest "Rainbow Gathering" in Colorado.

He drove me to the community hospital in Dillon, Montana.

He thought it would be a good idea. So did I.

We were both wrong.
