Another Hitchhiking Memory

They don't know me in West Virginia
I'm not a familiar face
I wasn't born in West Virginia
My roots are in another place

From Fort Kent, Maine
Across the Dakota Plain
I chased a flatbed load

And from Prince George,BC
To Siesta Key
I ran with the wheels
down the road

Making plans between gear jams
Sitting on a guardrail at night
One minute I was sticking out my hand
Next minute I was nowhere in sight

No, they don't know me in West Virginia
But I'll never shed a tear
Cuz between hello and goodbye
Is Ruthie In The Sky
And everyone knows me here.
