Karma And Blankenship's
Million-Dollar Meeting

"Everybody now bring your family down to the riverside
Look to the east to see where the fat stock hide
Behind four walls of stone the rich man sleeps
It's time we put the flame torch to their keep"

--From the song, "Burn Down The Mission"
By Bernie Taupin and Elton John
Recorded by Elton John on the album
"Tumbleweed Connection."

On Tuesday May 18, 2010 the Annual Meeting of Stockholders of Massey Energy Company will be held at the Jefferson Hotel, 101 West Franklin Street in Richmond, Virginia.

Yeah, and they, along with Don Blankenshit will fling money this and status that.

But I bet that nobody will say a word about all of those dead miners.

NPR.com filed a story today that I found very enlightening:

Bucks For Blankenshit

No wonder old Dollar Don doesn't really care about safety in his mines. His conscience is so padded with cash that he doesn't feel anything past the wad in his fat wallet.

I wonder what would happen if...naw, I'm not going to mention it. Yet.

Instead, I would like to include this set of verses from the sixteenth chapter of the Book of Luke in the Bible:

"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.'"

Yeah, enjoy your $17 million dollars now, Blankenshit. Because in the end, you will realize just how much your riches cost. And at that time, NO ONE, not your inner-circle, not Ernst and Young LLP, NOBODY will buy back your soul.

God took those dead miners to His side and someday you will find yourself across that wide abyss...on the other side.
