Hitchhiking: The Darkness Uninvited

Last night I was dropped off in a place that I would not have chosen myself.

The driver, an idiot, decided that hitching for a ride from an abandoned and
poorly lit weigh station was a brilliant idea.

It wasn't.

I was tired, cold and put in a position that no older woman should ever have
to be in.

Fortunately, a man finally came by in his big, gray pickup truck. He drove
me to Bend, Oregon (a city) and made sure that I was settled in a shelter,
there, for the rest of the night.

He also gave me ten dollars and much more peace of mind than the other
driver did.

This is yet another reason why I should be living in a home of my own.
