Ruthie On The Road, Update

I sat on a guard rail, outside of Burns, Oregon, for hours. I watched the sun travel from East to West across the sky. I watched big trucks and local traffic...just roll on by. I wondered where I would spend the night. And then, a man in an old, burgundy-colored Jeep, pulled over and stopped.

The wait was worth it. The man ended up driving me to a rest area outside of Boise, Idaho where we slept in the Jeep. And then the next day he drove me all the way to another rest area outside of Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

The little video, below, shows how it looked when we drove through Northern Utah.

When the driver dropped me off at the rest area in Colorado, I ran into a problem. It ended up being a long, cold night. I had no blanket, no food and no way to get any.  Check out the video below.

The next morning a woman walked up to me as I was attempting to absorb some heat from the rising sun. She had a little pug dog with her, named "Pogo." The dog licked my hand as the woman asked me if I was
alright.

I told her what happened and then she drove me to a restaurant in town where we had breakfast. Then she
decided to drive me down and put me in a motel where I am now: Leadville, Colorado. This community's greatest claim to fame is that it is over 10,000 feet above sea level.

And people ski around here.

This is definitely the Colorado Rocky Mountain high!

I will do my best to hitchhike out of here, today...heading for the border of New Mexico. It's only going to reach into the 40's today and it might rain this afternoon. If it does, oh boy!

I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that I get through, alright, today.

On the positive side, I have racked-up over 17,000 reward points and I just might get to stay in a warm, cozy motel room, tonight. Wish me luck!
